VIII Open Spain of Match Race in Calpe (Alicante)

 REAL CLUB NAÚTICO CALPE CALLS THE BEST SKIPPERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL MEN AND WOMEN MATCH RACE RANKINGS
Open de España will be honoured with the presence of high level participants, being four of them within the Top Ten Match Racing Ranking list.
Real Club Náutico Calpe will hold from the 3rd until the 14th of May, two Match Race international events: “VIII Open Spain of Match Race” and “XIII Criterium International Female”. Both regattas are qualified by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) as Grade 1, being the sole yacht club in Europe that organise two Grade 1 events, one for men and another for women, with the highest qualification given by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).
VIII Open Sapin of Match Race that will take place in Calpe (Alicante-Spain) from the 3rd until the 7th of May, will join the best sailors of the World Match Race Ranking, counting with the presence of Ian Williams and Björn Hansen, placed fifth and sixth in the World Match Race Ranking, and the Spanish skipper Manu Weiller.
XIII Criterium International Female that will start on May, the 10th and will last until the 14th, is considered as the best event in the Match Race international circuit.
This discipline of women competition has been classified as Olympic Sport. Therefore, all the participants will work for achieving enough position to join the Olympics Games that will be hold in London in 2012.
