Madmen of Valencia in Theatre Romana Sagunto (Valencia)
Lope de Vega wrote Madmen of Valencia following a stay in this city between 1589 and 1590. In Los locos de Valencia Lope de Vega portrays the madness of love, a recurring theme throughout his work. So clever and fun affair built in a space as unique as the Hospital for the insane. The plot, far from the usual swashbuckling comedy, burlesque has a near farce, and, interestingly, the characters fleeing from an outside reality that threatens them, find their mad infatuation stage in the field of asylum.
